About Me

I am experienced in working with others who deal with difficult and challenging circumstances unique to their lives.

Promoting people’s well-being, I work with others in a supportive and empowering capacity by offering counselling and psychological approaches to aid you through any challenges that you are experiencing.

I believe in the beauty of individuality and that each of us nourishes the world with our unique differences and experiences. Each of us has the ability and right to discover, grow, flourish, and reach our full potential.

Employing and implementing creativity into my practice to differentiate and individualise my approach to suit the needs of those I work with.

I work with young people and adults of all ages, with families, parents and in school settings to provide therapeutic support and develop individual strategies for a range of difficulties, such as:

·       Anxiety and depression

·       Childhood experiences

·       Trauma

·       Change

·       Intense feelings and behaviours

·       Anger, frustration

·       Relationship with food

·       Bereavement and loss

·       Neurodiversity

·       Relationships with others

·       Strategies for instilling coping strategies, learning strategies, organisation, and motivation.

·       Managing and developing coping strategies for feelings of burnout, exhaustion, stress, and feeling overwhelmed.

·       Understanding yourself and others.

I will provide you with a confidential, empathic, non-judgemental space where you will feel heard and listened to as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, in support of you developing a greater understanding of 'you', and of your interconnecting world.

I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and suggest valuable tools for you to adopt that may help you learn, discover, and manage life’s obstacles and challenges in a way that is unique and helpful to you.

Most importantly, emphasis will be placed on you becoming and feeling both empowered and confident in sourcing your own healthy ways of managing and working through any difficulty you are facing, in support of your taking steps towards making the change you wish to make.

My approach is both 'relationally - integrative' and 'eclectic', meaning I draw upon different psychological and learning theories, and approaches, whilst incorporating my training, experience, and skillsets in support of individualising my practice to suit your individual presentation, in support of you embarking upon your journey of self-discovery to instil self-understanding and make the changes you want.

I truly care and am committed to the well-being of all the people I work with and work diligently to help them find the answers they seek.

What are the benefits of online and telephone therapy?

Accessing online remote counselling from the comfort of your own safe space has been proven to be as effective as in-person therapy by more than 40 academic studies.

  1. Safe Space: Accessing support from the comfort of your own home, where you already feel at ease and comfortable.

  2.  Reduced cost: Online therapy eliminates the costs associated with travel time and expenses.

  3. More consistent therapy: Online therapy decreases absences due to poor weather conditions or sickness, allowing clients to participate in therapy on a regular basis.

  4. Online therapy can allow individuals in remote areas to get help from specialists who may not be available in their geographic location.

  5.  Psychological comfort: Online therapy can help with eliminating the social stigma related to receiving mental counselling or other therapy.

Are my sessions confidential?

Inner Therapies counselling service is confidential and information shared during your session, or information about you, will not be discussed with anyone else outside of the counselling space without your explicit agreement. Where there is exception to this rule, is where there was any presenting risk or concern that there was a serious risk of harm to yourself or others – it is in these situations where we have a duty of care to inform your GP.

There is nothing that cant be discussed and confidentiality is a most important part of my counselling service. As such, I subscribe to the ethical framework set out by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

To read our service confidentiality policy click below -  this provides detailed information on confidentiality and data protection procedures. As part of my practice, I will store data in accordance with the Data Protection Act and I hold current membership with the ICO (www.ico.otg.uk).

I keep my own records for the sole purpose of our work together, and these notes are held securely and confidentially for six years, after which they are destroyed. These records do not form part of any other record system.

How many sessions should I have?

It is essential to keep in mind that therapy can be hard work.

It is not a magic pill or a quick fix, nor is it something that is done to you: therapy is a healing process that necessitates full participation and a willingness to reflect and consider. But in the end, making small changes towards thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and developing coping mechanisms that work best for you, has the potential to bring about life-altering results.

We are all unique individuals, the number of sessions that you will require is dependant upon your presenting challenge and you.

I am a professional psychotherapist, and my main aim is to get you to a point where you feel empowered to embark upon the world with a new informed perception and ways of working, confident in utilising your own coping strategies and have a more informed acceptance and understanding of yourself without the need for counselling, only tapping back into it when you feel it to be of benefit to you to do so.

I work at your pace, in support of you working through what you want to work through.

What is Zoom, Teams and WhatsApp?

Zoom, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp can sound confusing. But these apps are a great way of keeping connected with others when it isn't possible to meet with them face to face. Supporting us stay connected with others and accessing counselling sessions which would pose difficulty in attending.

These apps can be downloaded onto a mobile phone, laptop or tablet and once downloaded I will send you a personalised and private invitation that can easily clicked on to link us up together so that we can meet in real life time, remotely.

Once our session is finished, we will hang up, just like we do when we finish a call, by pressing a red button saying END.

"People are as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying "soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try and control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds"

Welcome: Testimonials

'Thank you for guiding my child safely through 6th form, offering the counselling which has benefitted her greatly, enabling her to make friends which she struggled to do at the beginning of year 12.  Her teachers have also noticed a great improvement in her ability to contribute in lessons.  I trust this has given her the confidence to excel at University and life beyond.'
